Child of a Hidden Sea by A.M. Dellamonica cover

As a novel I have been somewhat excited about reading, I anticipated Child of a Hidden Sea by A.M. Dellamonica to be the next great fantasy series. The book begins with Sophie Hansa having been transported to the land of Stormwrack, a world comprised of islands barely large enough to call themselves countries. One moment she was witnessing her aunt being assaulted in a San Francisco alley, and the next she was thrown into the sea and trying to keep her aunt alive. Disoriented and confused, Sophie is hauled aboard…

To have and to hold

A historical, western romance, To Have and To Hold tells the story of an entire town that chooses to uproots and relocate to the West. The book is their journey as well as a love story between the hero and heroine. As the story unfolds, we realise there is more to the relocation than meets the eye as our heroine Naomi is plagued by dreadful nightmares. As well as being a romance, the story focuses on the harsh realities of life in the West. I found the realities of this…

REVIEW: Talk to Me by Jules Wake

Jules Wake - Talk to Me

Contemporary romance, Talk to Me by Jules Wake, has a lot going for it. I really liked the writing style, it’s easy reading with likeable characters, and it’s a lot of fun. However, it doesn’t really know if it is a straight up contemporary romance, or a romantic suspense. I guess that its main aim is to be a straight up romance, but with creepy stalkers, cats being killed by having their throats cut, and evil house mates, combined with a fairly light romance, it doesn’t manage to pull off either. Sadly, its mistaken identity made this book fall…

[color-box]Love’s Rhythm by Lexxie Couper (Heart of Fame #1) Momentum (1 Jul 2013), Ebook: 286 pages, Contemporary Romance Website • Series Listing • Amazon UK / US Rating: [/color-box] After reading and completely adoring Lick by Kylie Scott last year, I have been on the hunt for another seriously good rock star romance. Love’s Rhythm came up on offer on Kindle, the first in a rock star series so I thought I would give it a whirl. The story in itself is quite simple and follows a familiar romance trope,…

[color-box]Holding Out for a Hero by Amy Andrews Momentum (15 Oct 2013), Ebook: 243 pages, Contemporary Romance Website • Goodreads • Amazon UK / US Rating: [/color-box] Holding out for a Hero wasn’t quite what I expected after seeing the front cover, the cover kind of screams biker romance to me, which I have kind of developed a bit of a soft spot for. Also from memory I don’t think the hero rides a motorbike once in the novel. Non matching book covers are a bit of a bug bear…

REVIEW: Rock It by Jennifer Chance

[color-box]Rock It by Jennifer Chance (Rule Breakers #1) Loveswept (4 March 2014), Ebook: 240  pages, Contemporary / Rock Star Romance Website • Series Listing Rating: [/color-box] I have developed a bit of a soft spot for rock star romances lately, and Rock It looked like it would hit the spot perfectly. I mean who seriously has not at some point dreamed of their favourite rock idol sweeping them off their feet? The book itself had lots and lots of potential, but unfortunately I found that it didn’t just quite hit the mark….

Enchanting the Beast by Kathryne Kennedy UK cover

[color-box]Enchanting the Beast by Kathryne Kennedy (Relics of Merlin #4) Sourcebooks Casablanca (1 Apr 2014), Ebook: 352 pages, Paranormal Romance Website • Series Listing • Amazon UK / US Rating: [/color-box] Another addition to the paranormal and historical Relics of Merlin series, Enchanting the Beast by Kathryne Kennedy introduces spirits and ghosts into the pre-existing paranormal world of shape-shifters and magic. Philomena Radcliff is able to see ghosts, and the book opens with her conducting a séance in the vicinity of Sir Nicodemus Wulfson, a werewolf visiting the city. He…
