HAPPY 40th BIRTHDAY CAROLYN! You may or may not know it’s Carolyn’s 40th birthday today! So I thought I would sneak onto the blog, with the help of my trusty sidekick Gemma with a little surprise for her! First of all I came across this fabulous book cake on Intimate Weddings it might be a wedding cake, but I think it would be perfect for Carolyn’s birthday. After racking our brains Gemma and I have written a fun little song for her about all of her ‘favourite things’, sing along,…

Due to life and other commitments, reviewers come and go here at BCC. Because of this we are always on the lookout for people like ourselves who love reading and have the same voracious appetite for books. We are opening up a few reviewer spots to those aged 18+. Although these positions are voluntary, they do take up quite a bit of time so please keep this in mind when applying. The requirements of a BCC reviewer: Be able to write a well written/constructed review Be able to meet a deadline…

Carolyn is interviewed by Beauty & Lace today, talking about how Book Chick City came to be, her favourite blogs and what books she’d love to see hit the big screen. Head on over and say hi!

Would you like to help out behind the scenes of Book Chick City and join a fun, vibrant team? We’re looking for someone to help with formatting and preparing posts. The role will involve formatting reviews, general posts and author interviews, supporting us with the weekly scheduling of fun activities and posts for the blog. You can be a complete novice, but must be really keen to learn, or someone who is proficient and just wants to be involved. The only thing you really need is an eye for detail,…

Hi everyone! Welcome to the new and improved Book Chick City. We are now with WordPress, self-hosting which will hopefully give us much more scope and make the website easier for you to navigate and easier on the eyes. We absolutely love our new look, which better reflects the genres we love and review. We will no longer be reviewing genres such as historical and contemporary romance, but be focusing on all things paranormal. So, we say goodbye to the old Book Chick and hello to the new (slightly badass) Book Chick – I…
I realise that Book Chick City is a book review site but I wanted to post something personal today as a tribute to my father-in-law who was a lovely dad, husband and to everyone he met, a good friend. Brian was diagnosed with cancer over the Christmas period and was told it had spread significantly. We thought there may be a chance of chemo but sadly he deteriorated and passed away early this morning. The family is of course devastated and we can’t believe he was taken so soon. We only had two…
To All, Due to a family emergency there won’t be any posts for the next few days, but I’m hoping to be up and running as normal next week. ~ Carolyn

CONGRATULATIONS LAURA!!! I have some exciting news! Yesterday Laura gave birth to a beautiful baby boy! He arrived into the world yesterday afternoon, his name is Logan and he weighs a whopping 10lbs! Here is a little pic – isn’t he absolutely gorgeous! Look at all that blonde hair! Welcome to the world Logan! Laura is doing ok, although there were complications so she’s having to stay in hospital a few days, but she’s enjoying being a mummy and totally in love with her new little baby. As you may guess,…

UPDATE: Andrea no longer reviews for BCC As you may know, I have been looking for a new reviewer since the departure of Jo. After sifting through numerous applications (thank you to all who applied), I can now announce BCC’s new reviewer! Please give a warm welcome to my newest team member, Andrea! Andrea is a Brit chick (like yours truly), loves all the same kind of genres I do and she’s a huge animal lover, which is a big plus is my book, all of which means I think…
Hello peeps! I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend. Before cracking on with what’s coming up this week, I *have* to mention the ROYAL WEDDING!!! I was glued to the tv all day and loved it from start to finish – it was just SO romantic! And didn’t Wills & Kate look amazing! I hope they will be very happy together – were you guys captivated too? As you can see from my sidebar I’m looking for a reviewer to join the BCC team – so if you live…
My First Year at Book Chick City Wow! I can’t believe it’s been a year already. What started out as an innocent message to Carolyn on Twitter after I saw she was looking for extra reviewers to cover her holiday, of which I’m honest I didn’t expect anything to come of it, has turned out to be something much bigger and the start of a fantastic friendship. And I’ve loved it! Who would of thought there were so many people in the world who like books as much as me?!…

UPDATE: Jo no longer reviews for BCC As you may know, two months ago Book Chick City welcomed Zosia as part of the reviewing team, unfortunately Zosia is no longer with us. I very much enjoyed having her here on BCC and will miss her fab reviews, but I know I can always pop on over to Goodreads! However, I have the pleasure of introducing Josephine (Jo) to the team. Jo is a Brit chick (like moi) and has a voracious appetite for books. She’s bubbly and friendly and I…

UPDATE: Zosia no longer reviews for BCC All Hallows Eve is now over *sniff* and I will be posting about it tomorrow with some winners! But now it’s back to regular scheduling, except there is a new addition to the BCC team! Although I enjoy my regular features here on BCC (and will be keeping them) I have wanted to limit the amount I post in favour of more reviews, but due to the fact that I’m a pretty slow reader and especially now that I’ve started my Zoology degree…
NEW CHICK AT BCC! As you know, in March I had a some time out to recharge the batteries and obtain a buffer for my reviews (rather than reading and reviewing a book the same week). Laura was one of the lovely guest reviewers who helped me out. She wrote three fab reviews and I really liked her voice and writing style. After chatting with her via email I liked her even more, so I asked if she would be a permanent guest reviewer at BCC, and luckily she said…
